Woman kills three children and herself in charcoal-burning murder-suicide

Crime May. 24, 2012 – FUKUOKA —

Police said Wednesday that a woman and her three children died in a murder-suicide in Fukuoka after their bodies were discovered in a car.

According to police, the children’s grandmother and one of their school teachers were searching for the children after they failed to attend school on Tuesday. They discovered the bodies in a parking lot outside an apartment block in Fukuoka at about 11:45 a.m., Fuji TV reported.

The 28-year-old woman and her three children, aged 6, 9, 10, were found in the car, which also contained a charcoal burner. Police say that they were no visible injuries on the family and that they believe all four died of hypoxia brought about by carbon monoxide poisoning, Fuji reported.

5-year-old girl run over, killed by mother

National May. 21, 2012 – AICHI —

Police said Monday that a five-year-old girl was killed in Seto, Aichi Prefecture, after her mother accidentally ran her over with a car.

According to police, Manami Koide, 29, hit her daughter Nanami with her car outside their home at around 4 p.m. Sunday, TBS reported. Police say Koide was reversing her car toward the house so that she could vacuum it when the incident occurred.

Nanami was taken to hospital where she died around an hour and a half later of a cardiac rupture.

2-year-old boy falls from 3rd-floor apartment during eclipse

National May. 21, 2012 -TOKYO —

A 2-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after falling from the window of a 3rd-floor apartment in Tokyo during the eclipse on Monday morning.

Police said they received a call from a local resident just after 7:30 a.m. reporting that a boy was lying on the ground in front of a 5-story apartment building in Ota Ward, TBS reported.

The boy was taken to hospital and remains in a coma, police said.

The boy’s bedroom window faces the east and police believe he may have been watching the eclipse when he fell out the window, TBS reported.

3-yr-old boy, left home alone, falls to death from 11th-floor balcony

National May. 16, 2012 – TOKYO —

A three-year-old boy fell to his death from the balcony of his 11th-floor apartment in Adachi Ward on Tuesday after his parents left him home alone.

According to a TBS report, the 15-story apartment block’s superintendent called police at around 4:30 p.m. to report that a toddler was lying on the ground outside, having apparently fallen from one of the apartment balconies. The boy was taken to hospital where he died a short while later.

Police said the boy’s father was at work and his mother was out shopping at the time of the incident. The unattended child is believed to have climbed up a laundry drying rack that had been left on the balcony and then fallen to his death, TBS reported.

Newborn baby’s body found in bag near pond

May. 05, 2012 – FUKUOKA —

Police said Friday that the body of a newborn infant was found in a vinyl bag near a pond in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture.

According to police, a passerby called 110 just after 12 noon on Thursday and said there was a bad smell coming from a vinyl bag near a pond, Fuji TV reported. When police arrived, they found the infant’s decayed body.

Police said they were unable to determine the gender and that the body appeared to have been discarded several days ago. Police are investigating the case as one of abandoning a corpse.
