Woman held for trying to strangle 6-month-old son to death

 Jan. 03, 2015 – KAWASAKI —

Police in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, have arrested a 37-year-old woman on a charge of attempted murder after she tried to strangle her 6-month-old son to death.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Aya Shoji, strangled her son Yuma on Friday morning. TBS reported that Shoji’s 38-year-old husband found the child in a state of cardiac arrest and called 119. The child was rushed to the hospital where he is in a stable condition.

Shoji, who was arrested at her home, was quoted by police as saying she had become worn out from raising her child.

Woman arrested over attempted murder of 8-year-old son

AICHI — Jan. 22nd, 2015

Police in Okazaki, Aichi Prefecture, said Thursday they have arrested a 33-year-old woman on suspicion of attempting to kill her 8-year-old son.

According to police, Aki Amano strangled her son until he lost consciousness at their home at around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. TBS reported that Amano’s 54-year-old husband Toshio called 119 at around 11 p.m. to report that his son had lost consciousness. The boy was rushed to hospital and remains in intensive care.

Hospital staff identified bruising and red marks on the boy’s neck indicating that someone had strangled him, and notified police.

The boy’s mother was quoted by police as saying she didn’t believe she could go on raising her child, and that she wanted to go to heaven together with him.

According to police, the boy’s grandmother said that her daughter had been receiving psychiatric care at a mental health facility.

Man arrested over murder of 10-year-old girl

Feb. 02, 2015- FUKUOKA —

Police in Buzen, Fukuoka Prefecture, said Sunday they have arrested a 46-year-old man over the murder of a 10-year-old girl who went missing on Saturday morning.

According to police, the girl, Miwa Ishibashi, was last seen by her mother after she drove her to meet a classmate at her (the classmate’s) grandmother’s house. TBS reported that the mother dropped her daughter off near the classmate’s house at around 10 a.m. Saturday. However, Ishibashi never met her friend. Her parents alerted police when she didn’t return home on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday morning, police found Ishibashi’s body in a large vinyl bag hidden in a closet on the second floor of her friend’s house and arrested construction worker Toshiyuki Uchima, who is the common-law husband of the friend’s mother.

Police said Uchima has admitted to strangling Ishibashi—whom he knew—at another spot and then panicked and hid her body in the bag at the house.

Police are questioning Uchima on where and at what time he killed Ishibashi.

22-year-old man held over murder of 11-year-old boy in Wakayama town

WAKAYAMA —

Police in Kinokawa, Wakayama Prefecture, arrested a 22-year-old man early Saturday on suspicion of fatally stabbing an 11-year-old boy as he walked home from school on Thursday afternoon.

The boy, Toshi Morita, was attacked a few hundred meters from his school at around 4 p.m. Thursday. A local resident saw a man running away from the boy after the attack and called 119.

Speaking at an early morning news conference, police identified the suspect as Oshu Nakamura, an unemployed man who lives about 150 meters from the scene of the murder, TBS reported. He was arrested at around 1:30 a.m., but has denied the charge.

Police said Oshu lived with his parents and was reclusive, although some neighbors recalled seeing in front of his house occasionally swinging a bamboo sword. Police said he fit the description of a man seen wearing goggles and carrying knives near the vacant lot where the boy’s body was found.

Morita was airlifted to hospital by helicopter but died shortly after arrival, police said, adding he had 10 wounds on his body, which appear to have been inflicted by different weapons.

Chiba woman arrested for killing daughters aged 4, 1

Feb. 10, 2015 – CHIBA —

Police in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, said Tuesday they have arrested a 36-year-old woman on suspicion of killing her two daughters aged 4 and 1.

TBS reported that police were called to the home by the children’s father who found their bodies just after 3 p.m. Monday. His wife, Rika Makino, had called him at his workplace to tell him what she had done, police said.

When police arrived, Makino was standing at the entrance of her home and admitted she had just strangled to death her daughters Renoa, 4, and Reisa, 1.

Police quoted Makino as saying she had become tired of parenting and although she had intended to kill herself as well, she had been unable to go through with it, TBS reported.

17-year-old gives birth in toilet; dumps infant by river

Feb. 13, 201- FUKUI —

Police in Fukui said Thursday they have arrested a 17-year-old girl on suspicion of illegally disposing of a corpse after the body of her newborn baby girl was found on a nearby riverbank.

According to police, the girl gave birth in a toilet at her home at around dawn on Feb 4, the Fukui Shimbun reported. She is accused of killing the infant and then dumping the body on the bank of the Umawatari River.

The body was found by children commuting to school. They saw something that looked like a doll on the riverbank, and told their parents who contacted 110.

Police said the girl was admitted to hospital the same day, and that they waited until she was discharged before arresting her.

The girl, who is unmarried, lives with her parents, but they told police they had been unaware she was pregnant as there appeared to be very little swelling, Fukui Shimbun reported.

29-year-old woman arrested for killing 2 young daughters

Feb. 17, 2015 -KANAGAWA —

Police in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture, said Tuesday they have arrested a 29-year-old woman on suspicion of kill her two young daughters

Police said they received a call at around 9 p.m. Monday from Natsumi Yamamoto, saying she had killed her daughters Kaho, 6, and Saki, 3, in their apartment, TV Asahi reported. Police rushed to the scene and found the two girls unconscious. They were taken to hospital where they were declared dead on arrival.

Yamamoto was quoted by police as saying she had strangled both her children with her bare hands. The suspect had been living with her two children and her husband who was still at work at the time of the incident.

Police said Yamamoto told them she felt anxious about the future, saying she couldn’t cope with raising the children and doing housework.

Man arrested for beating 4-month-old daughter

Feb. 21, 2015 -HIROSHIMA —

Police in Kumano, Hiroshima Prefecture, have arrested a 23-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of abusing his 4-month-old daughter.

According to police, Keita Sudo beat his daughter about the head, causing a skull fracture, last Nov 3, NTV reported Friday. His wife, who was away at the time, later noticed a bruise on her daughter’s forehead. As she seemed unwell, the couple took her to the hospital. Sudo told the doctor that he did not know what had caused the bruise, police said.

The next day, the hospital reported the incident to a child consultation center in Hiroshima as a case of suspected child abuse. The center then notified police.

Police said Sudo has denied abusing his daughter who spent a week in hospital recovering from her injury.

Body of naked 13-year-old boy found on riverbank in Kawasaki

 Feb. 21, 2015 – KAWASAKI —

Police said Saturday that the naked body of a 13-year-old boy was found on a riverbank in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture.

According to police, the boy was identified as Ryota Uemura. His body was found just after 6 a.m. Friday by a man walking along the Tama River, NTV reported.

Police said an autopsy revealed that the boy had been dead for about four hours before he was found. There were several knife wounds on this neck, face and arms. He was identified by his mother at 11 a.m. Saturday, police said.

As there were no clothes or personal items near the victim, police believe he was killed elsewhere and his body dumped on the riverbank.

Police said they are analyzing street surveillance camera footage that shows one person pushing a bike, with two others walking beside him, toward the riverbank. Later on, footage shows only two people returning. Police that in a nearby public toilet, there were ashes indicating clothes and shoes had been burned, NTV reported.

Police said the boy may have been lured to the area via social media, but his cell phone has not been found. They will question the victim’s friends to see if he was being bullied at school.
