Crime Oct. 09, 2015 –
Police on Friday arrested a 27-year-old woman on a charge of abandoning a body after she gave birth in the toilet of a park in Tokyo’s Shinjuku Ward and then put the body of the dead infant in a bag.
According to police, at around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, a park maintenance worker called police and said there was blood in front of the toilet in Toyama Park and that a woman seemed to be in great pain, Fuji TV reported.
Police arrived and found the woman, bleeding. A tote bag contained the body of the newborn girl.
The woman, who was identified as Yui Yamamoto, had no fixed address and was unemployed, police said. She was quoted by police as saying she put the body of her dead baby daughter in the bag because she didn’t want anyone to see what had happened.
